OMA Student Art and Writing on Exhibit

Pima County Juvenile Court sponsors exhibits of student artwork and writing in the Pima County Juvenile Courthouse Gallery, 2225 East Ajo Way. Before the opening of the exhibit, students are honored with an award ceremony and reception in the Gallery. Some examples of the work and writing exhibited are shown below.

Current Exhibit

I am an artist because when I paint I let colors in my mind gently flow out to the paper, such as the water in a river flowing out to the ocean. To me it is like poetry being written by a poet. I do not rush on my artwork. I say practice does not make perfect, practice makes progress and perfect practice makes perfect.

I am an artist because you can learn a lot in art. It is very colorful and beautiful. You can learn about people who were artists. You will learn what are the real names of some colors you will learn the 7 principles and elements. You will also learn to how to draw lots of stuff like animals and people. That is why I like art.

I am an artist because sometimes I like to take an object like a flower or a glass and draw it. Other times I might see a scene in my head and just start drawing. When I draw I like to make things look as realistic as possible, unless I’m drawing a new cartoon character. Art is a great way to express yourself. That is why I am an artist.
